Bearded Collie

The Bearded Collie [Beardie] comes to us from Scotland where they worked in the Scottish Highlands to herd both sheep and cattle. They grow to be 40 - 60 pounds and 20 - 22 inches tall.

If you want a dog with tons of energy, and lots of hair, then this one’s for you ! [Be ready to do lots of brushing so their hair doesn’t get matted]. As much as they want to be out playing they also love being indoors with their families. If you do need to leave them alone make sure and take them for a good walk before you leave.

Bearded Collies are famous for 2 things … a tail that seems to be wagging all the time and bouncing. They are nicknamed “bouncing beardies”. This comes from when they would be trying to herd a stubborn lamb out from the thick bush they would not only bark, but bounce up and down on their front legs. By bouncing they could get a bit higher to see where the lamb was.
