Finch Breeds
FEATHERS tip!
" The first few times you speak to your new pet bird get down lower than your bird, close your eyes and speak to them very softly. Birds feel comfortable and relaxed when they are higher than anyone else. "
Yorkshire Canary

The Yorkshire Canary comes to us from the Yorkshire area of England. They are called "The Guardsman" [they are extremely alert] and "Gentleman Canary”.

These guys get big … over ½ foot long ! Because of their size you’ll need to get them a big cage. Make sure you have a few perches in it with one of them up high in the cage for them to spend the night on. Also, put the cage high up. They like to look down on what’s going on. Like other canaries they like to stay clean so make sure you’ve got a birdbath in there too. And don’t forget a swing.

They mostly eat canary seed and rape seed. You can also buy vitamin coated canary seed at your pet store. They also like broccoli and a cuttlebone.
